Best Actor Award to Shah Rukh for Chennai Express

The red carpet has been rolled out. The annual 20th Screen Awards has finally begun. Here are the main highlights from the evening:

11.25 pm: The star-studded Awards ceremony comes to an end with Mika's performance.

11.20 pm: Mika Singh signs out with his energetic song 'Saawan mein lag gayi aag'

11.15 pm: Best Actor (Popular) Award to Shah Rukh Khan for Chennai Express

11.05 pm: Deepika Padukone bags the Best Actress Award (Popular) for RamLeela & Chennai Express

10:45 pm: Bhaag Milkha Bhaag bags the Best Film Award.

10:42 pm: Shoojit Sircar wins Best Director Award for Madras Cafe.

10.40 pm: Big B is the pride of the nation and the film industry, says Shatrughan Sinha

10.30 pm: Amitabh Bachchan should become the president of India, says Shatrughan Sinha 

10.20 pm: Vidhu Vinod Chopra and Shatrughan Sinha present the Lifetime Achievement Award to Amitabh Bachchan

10.00 pm: Ramnath Goenka Memorial Award goes to Madras Cafe

9.15 pm: Mohan Sikka bags the award for the Best Story (B.A Pass)

9.15 pm: Best Ensemble Cast to Sanjay Tripathi for Club 60

9.00 pm: Varun Dhawan performs to the hits of 2013 with Tara, Lajo, Pakhi

8.50 pm: Arijit Singh bags the Best singer (Male) for Tum Hi Ho (Aashiqui 2)

8.47 pm: Saurabh Shukla gets best supporting actor for Jolly LLB

8.45 pm:
Best Playback Singer Female award to Shreya Ghoshal for Sunn Raha Hai Na, Aashiqui 2

8.40 pm: Best Music award goes to Pritam for Yeh Jawaani Hain Deewani

8.30 pm: Best actor in a supporting role female goes to Swara Bhaskar

8.35 pm: Best actor in a comic role goes to Richa Chadda for Fukrey

8.30 pm: Best actor male in a negative role goes to Rishi Kapoor for D-Day

8.25 pm: Best Action Award to Manohar Verma for Madras Cafe

Best Film (Marathi):

Former Bigg Boss 7 contestant Tanishaa announced the Best Film (Marathi) award, that went to Balak Palak and Duniyadari.

Best Director (Marathi):

Ravi Jadav, Balak Palak

Best Actress (Marathi):
Actress Kajol, dressed in a lovely peach gown, handed the Best Actress (Marathi) award to mom Tanuja.

Best Actor (Marathi):
Sachin Khedekar, Aajacha Divas Majha

Best Film Marketing:
Chennai Express

This ceremony was followed by the Technical Awards category.

Best Background Score:
Bhaag Milkha Bhaag

It was Bhaag Milkha Bhaag director Rakeysh OmPrakash Mehra who received the award on behalf of Shankar, Ehsaan, Loy.

Best Choreographer:
Remo D'Souza, Badtameez Dil, Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani

Total Siyappa actor Ali Zafar then took to the stage to perform.

Best Cinematography:
S. Ravi Varman for Goliyon Ki Rasleela Ram-Leela

Best costume:
Anju Modi, Maxima Basu, Goliyon Ki Rasleela Ram-Leela

Best Production Design:
Wasiq Khan, Goliyon Ki Rasleela Ram-Leela

Best Editing:
Deepa Bhatia for Kai Po Che

The ceremony then paused for a breathtaking performance by the team of 'Yaariyaan'. This was followed by a burning performance by none other than Honey Singh.

After arriving in style, actor Varun Dhawan unveiled the specatcular Screen Awards set designed by Omung Kumar.

Varun Dhawan soon did a flashback act on-stage.

R... Rajkumar actor Shahid Kapoor knows how to make an entry. He arrived on a chopper, and finally landed to enthrall the audience with a power-packed performance!

Soon I & B Minister Manish Tewari talks about the importance of a good cinematographic paradigm.

Presenters Mohit Raina and Moni Roy next called Varun Dhawan on stage once again.

Most Promising Newcomer Male:
Sushant Singh Rajput for Kai Po Che

Kai Po Che director Abhishek Kapoor accepted the award on behalf of Sushant Singh Rajput.

Most promising debut director:
Ritesh Batra for Lunchbox

Best child arstiste:
Japtej Singh
