Sohail Khan’s first love is directing

Bollywood star directs his brother Salman Khan in ‘Jai Ho’, out this week

He’s produced, directed and acted. But Sohail Khan, whose much-awaited film Jai Ho releases this weekend in the UAE, says directing will always be his first love.

“I started my career directing. Then, I got involved with production. Acting was just me learning the experience of filmmaking. But now I’d like to stick to directing and production. It’s more satisfying,” says the 43-year old, who made his acting debut in 2002 with Maine Dil Tujko Diya (I Gave You My Heart), a film he also directed and produced.

Jai Ho sees Sohail Khan back on the director’s chair, in what many have called one of the most keenly-awaited films of the year, thanks mostly to its lead Salman Khan. The film’s release, which was reportedly scheduled for December last year, had been moved to February.
“The truth is, we never confirmed the date of the release. I guess people were expecting the film to come out last year because Salman didn’t have any films releasing in 2013. It was never supposed to be, he says.
